Dale suggested that we do something creative with the shingles on the gable ends - something other than evenly-spaced, horizontal rows ... maybe some kind of pattern. We agreed and gave him complete artistic license to "make it interesting". Wait 'til you see the other (west end) gable (still in progress)!

sunny morning ... looking across the covered patio, thru the dining room, living room and out the window and across the covered deck ... plywood is on the patio to protect the recently-applied sealer

Dale's installation "Cut Ends of Oiled Cedar Siding"
the east end gable is ready for shingles (currently stacked on the patio next to "Wingnut", our neighbor's golden retriever who likes to hang out with us when her master is away)
oiled cedar board & batten siding going up ... gable ends will have cedar shingles (just delivered today) ... the west end gable (shown) will also have a window added
plywood sheathing is on the walls ... hay is spread on the ground, since it has been raining and the ground is very muddy (thanks to our great high-clay soil!) ... grape vine leaves are still hanging in there
